We are ready for you!

After a delayed start to the year we are excited to be able to welcome our self-catering guests to Northcourt once again. At this moment in time, large group bookings are not permitted but if you ever needed an excuse to escape the mundane, now is the time! The sun is warming up, miles of beaches and countryside walks to explore, pubs serving food outdoors, and attractions are reopening. From 12 April until 17 May we are able to welcome up to one household (+linked childcare/support bubble) with a 60-70% discount (depending on level of occupancy). From 17 May – 21 June we are able to welcome two households (+linked childcare/support bubble) or up to 6 from multiple households, with a 40-60% discount (depending on level of occupancy). Thereafter, when there are no restrictions on group sizes, we are fully booked until November 2021, when we have limited availability until January 2022. Book now, whilst you can.
Do you need an escape this winter?
Blow the cobwebs away with a walk over the Downs or along the beach, enjoy a meal in a local pub or heat up a pre-cooked meal, and get cozy in front of the fire… Would a low deposit and free cancellation help? During this time of uncertainty, we are currently offering flexible booking terms for any stays until the end of March 2021. Pay only a 10% deposit to hold your booking, and balances need only be paid 1 week before your stay. In case you cannot travel due to a Government enforced restriction (local or national travel restriction) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will offer you a full refund on any monies paid. At the current time we are offering the north or west wings of the manor with a substantial discount (exact level of discount dependant on number of bedrooms used) on a low occupancy basis for 6 to meet the Government’s rule of 6 (if from tier 1) or one household (if from tier 2). Unfortunately, in line with Government restrictions, no stays are possible if you live within tier 3. We, like many others, firmly believe that a self-catering holiday on the Isle of Wight is the perfect way to get away from the crowds and spend time as a family or your closest friends in a safe environment which you can control. The Island has so much gorgeous countryside to offer, with walking, cycling, sailing, surfing and exploring, and Northcourt offers plenty of space away from others. We are ensuring that the property is cleaned and sanitised to the COVID Ready Guidelines from PASC UK (Professional Association of Self-Caterers of whom we are members) and Visit Britain. This offer is for new bookings only and not for backdated bookings. The offer may be withdrawn at any time and is subject to change to reflect any Government imposed restriction or easing.
We’re Good To Go

The Government have announced that we can reopen to guests from the o4 July. We have been busy making preparations and introducing new protocols to keep everyone safe. This includes joining Visit Britain’s ‘We’re Good To Go’ COVID-19 Industry Standard. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Coronavirus announcement
March 23 2020 Unfortunately we took the decision last week to close our doors to guests until further notice. We are following the UK Government’s advice during these unprecedented and challenging times in order to protect the health and safety of us and our family, our staff, our guests, and importantly, to assist with the national and global effort against the Covid-19 virus. We have contacted all those staying until the end of May offering opportunities to rebook later in the year. We will continue to follow the Government’s announcements and look forward welcoming guests back to Northcourt once it is safe for everyone to do so. In the meantime, we are using this vacant period as an opportunity to take stock, to give the house a serious spring clean, as well as undertaking refurbishment and decorating work. We are continuing to take bookings for later in the year and during 2021, and hope to be back up and running soon. Stay safe, stay well. Best wishes James, Katherine and family xx

Making it Personal

In this world of the internet where everything is available at the touch of a button, one crucial thing is missing and that’s the personal touch. Similarly, we believe that because we are family owned, family managed and aren’t agency listed or managed that we can give you a completely difference experience when you book your holiday. By making it personal. Unlike many holiday lets, Northcourt Manor is not a second home. In fact, it has been home to the Harrison family since the sixties and continues to be some fifty years later. Now, eldest son James and his wife Katherine run the estate meaning that at all times you have direct contact with the owners whose first thoughts are for your comfort and the success of your holiday. We live on site which means that we’re on hand to offer advice on everything from things to do on the Island, places to eat and beaches to visit as well as greeting you on arrival – so no impersonal key boxes to wrestle with! We love to share our home with appreciative guests and our reviews on Trip Advisor would suggest that they are indeed appreciative with all of our reviews being five star for all categories of Location, Cleanliness, Service and Value. And while we’re talking about value, booking directly with us means that you aren’t having to pay an agency fee on top of the quoted price – which can often be as much as an extra 20%. At Northcourt, we like to think that we go the extra mile for our guests and we have an ongoing restoration programme to keep this 400 year old Grade II listed building ship shape and up to date – we’ve recently installed a biomass boiler to continue the ongoing sustainable restoration of the estate which provides hot water and heating for Northcourt Manor, and have plans for the restoration of the Stables buildings. And this is all thanks to the financial contributions from our guests. So, lots of reasons to book with us and have the holiday of your expectations. We’re here, on hand and available to make sure that you have everything that you need and that you leave us having made memories and having had a great experience. Because it’s the personal touch that counts.
Escape the Office for the Country

Fed up with looking out of the office window and seeing just more buildings? Feel like a breath of fresh country air? Looking for a place to wow clients or to hold your AGM or brainstorm your latest strategies? Then come to Northcourt Manor. Set the delightful countryside of Shorwell on the Isle of Wight, Jacobean Northcourt is the perfect place to relocate yourself and your team for a well- deserved team treat, an offsite workshop, a team building few days or to entertain clients. With not only the house itself and the gardens to enjoy, you can go further afield and enjoy coastal downland and wetland walks, have a swim in the sea (if you’re feeling brave) and see some of the most stunning views in the UK across the Needles and Tennyson Down. The Island is also home to award winning pubs and restaurants so if you don’t feel like cooking, then there are plenty of alternatives. Or if you want to stay closer to home you can enjoy fifteen acres of gardens, a paddock and a function room which is over 10 metres long for al fresco meals or undercover if the weather isn’t being kind. Our kitchens are catering standard and are geared towards feeding large parties of people but there is also the Crown pub in Shorwell within walking distance should you wish to decamp… Northcourt House (the north wing of the Manor) and Little Northcourt (the west wing) each provide self-catering accommodation for up to 19 or 14 adults or over 36 people if they are rented together so you’ll have plenty of room for all of your team, colleagues and clients whether it’s for business or leisure. So, escape from the city, cross water and feel like you’re on holiday even if you are ‘at work’ – you are certain to return to your desk feeling refreshed, revitalised and positive.
Celebrating Milestone Birthdays

Milestone (noun) an important event in the development or history of something or in someone’s life What exactly is a milestone birthday? When you’re 8 then 13 sounds like quite a milestone and when you’re 13 you long for the milestone of 18. But whether your milestone is 16 or 60, it’s the perfect excuse for getting everyone together and celebrating in style. Here at Northcourt we love any reason for a party, but we especially love birthdays. There’s something about a birthday that is extra special because it’s your day. We all like to celebrate in different ways but having your friends and family around you to join in that celebration makes the day one to really remember. Catering is easy to organise but where can you fit all of your guests comfortably especially if they’re travelling from afar? Where can you be exclusive, private and have access to the grounds as well as accommodation for forty plus people? Well, what better place to get everyone together than at your own mini estate, Northcourt House. Regardless of the time of year that your birthday falls in, there’s always some magic at Northcourt. From swathes of spring daffodils, through to summer in our 15-acre garden with its 4000 varieties of plant and on to winter with log burners and a piano, you’ll really feel at home here. Wildlife also plays its part with red squirrels, buzzards and sparrow hawks visiting us as well as barn owls and little owls nesting in the stables. And there’s the Crown Inn at Shorwell a short walk from the bottom of the garden for a change of scene. Accommodation is provided in the interlinking north and west wings of the manor house available along with bedrooms in the east wing which can accommodate forty plus people, so you have the perfect and unique place for that special occasion or party. Equally, the two self-contained wings are ideal for smaller groups of up to 10 or 20. The property has been refurbished with your comfort in mind and can be used flexibly for both summer and winter parties. If your party or celebration is in the summer, there is a private enclosed garden and the shared paddock for barbeques and games. So, go on. Celebrate that milestone birthday with your nearest and dearest. Pop a cork or two and remember that life should not only be lived, it should also be celebrated!
A Rural Retreat

Retreat: a quiet or secluded place in which one can rest and relax. The Isle of Wight is probably one of the best places in the UK to relax and in fact retreat from the world for a while. With its coastal paths, Downs, woodlands and beaches, visitors are spoiled for choice for places to while away hours. Here at Northcourt we have just the right sort of atmosphere and loads of room for whatever sort of retreat might take your fancy. With fifteen acres of gardens, a paddock and a function room which is over 10 metres long, you can retreat al fresco or undercover if the weather isn’t being kind. We’ve hosted all sorts of retreats here and our rural setting with its beautiful gardens and peaceful surroundings provide the perfect backdrop to whatever you may want to do. Yoga perhaps? Or a bootcamp for a week? Or healthy eating or a meeting of nature lovers, or poets, or artists or foodies or culture vultures, anything really – within reason of course! All you need to do is get your group together. Northcourt House (the north wing of the Manor) and Little Northcourt (the west wing) each provide self-catering accommodation for up to 19 or 14 adults or over 36 people if they are rented together so there’s plenty of room for a crowd of retreaters and all the facilities to cook and enjoy spending time with like- minded people. We are specialists in looking after large groups and our Jacobean manor house in lovely Shorwell at the heart of the Island is also within walking distance of The Crown should your willpower desert you after day two of bootcamp or healthy eating! Please look on the calendar for availability or give us a call to discuss your specific group needs and we’ll be pleased to help. You are only limited by your own imagination so plan your greatest retreat ever.
